What Does ‘Exclusive Territory’ Mean?
Each building franchise owns a set territory, and the exclusive rights to build without competition from other Cavalier franchise builders. Our territories are based on local government areas (shires/councils) and new home building statistics. They have been carefully mapped to ensure viability, maximise build opportunities and help ensure the success of all of our franchises.
What Training Is Provided?
We provide extensive systems implementation and training from the beginning. Cavalier building franchisees have the support of a National Franchise Manager as well as the backing of our head office team. A comprehensive operations manual details the procedures for running a successful Cavalier Homes business. Ongoing training and assistance are also provided throughout the year, with sales workshops and half-yearly forums.
How Long Will It Take Me To Set Up As A Cavalier Homes Builder?
The time it takes to establish your Cavalier Homes business will depend on a few factors, such as whether you are building a display home immediately, leasing a shopfront or office, the size of your business and the number and type of employees you will need to recruit. Do I Have To Build Only Cavalier Homes Designs?
We provide an extensive design range with over 200 design options including rural homestead and narrow-block plans. These designs all come with working drawings and bill of quantities, providing a complete catalogue of attractive floorplan options. You are also entitled to build spec homes, investment homes, and fully customised homes as a Cavalier Homes builder.
Do I Have To Hire Staff?
Each franchise is required to have a building licence, and at least one sales consultant working in the display home within 12 months of commencement. Our National Franchise Manager will work closely with you to determine the staffing requirements for estimators, administration and sales staff.
Can I Run A Business Separately To My Cavalier Homes Business?
We expect that you will dedicate your full attention to operating your Cavalier Homes business, and as such all domestic constructions are to be built under the Cavalier brand. Any commercial construction is separate and allowed to be constructed under a different company name.
What Is The Initial Investment Costs?
A Cavalier Homes franchise comes with a number of inclusions to get your business up and running smoothly. The purchase price starting from $25,000 (plus GST) depending on location gets you access to an exclusive territory, the Cavalier Edge systems, over 90 home designs, working drawings and plans, HIA membership, an initial marketing kit and a comprehensive training plan.
What Are The Royalties And Levies?
Cavalier Homes franchisees contribute 2.50% percent of the contract value (ex GST) of new homes, renovations and additions as a royalty payment. There is also a levy of 1.0% percent to the National Marketing Fund, and 50% percent of this levy is reinvested directly back into your territory or region.
What Are The Ongoing Fees?
The initial investment cost covers the purchase and maintenance of the Cavalier Edge systems. After the first year, Cavalier Homes franchisees can expect to pay a total of approximately $11,500.00 p.a (ex GST) for server maintenance, software subscription renewal and professional association fees.
How Are Franchisees Selected?
Cavalier Homes carefully appoints franchisees using a process designed to determine if the business opportunity is suitable for both parties. The first step is submitting an expression of interest form, and from there we will meet with each candidate to discuss the application process.
Do I need to be registered with a State Building Commission?
Yes, all potential franchisees need to be registered with their relevant state building commission. i.e. In Victoria you need to be an unlimited registered builder DB-U.
What is the next step?
A visit to either the Australia Head Office in Shepparton or the Albury/Wodonga Franchise is a must to meet and discuss the extensive opportunities on offer.
Shepparton: Fly into Tullamarine (Melbourne), hire a car for the 2 hour drive to Shepparton, meet with The National Franchise Manager & Directors for 2-3 hours, visit the Goulburn Valley Franchise Office and Display Homes then return to Tullamarine.
Albury/Wodonga: Fly into Albury Airport in the morning, be picked up by the National Franchise Manager & Directors, meet for 2-3 hours at the Albury/Wodonga Franchise Office, visit the Albury/Wodonga Display Homes then fly out later that afternoon.
