Moronae and Mellisa Silaga had dreamed of owning their own home, but it seemed impossible after several knock-backs when it came to finance.
After four years of trying, Mellisa said they were ready to give up – until she saw a Facebook post by Cavalier Homes Goulburn Valley.
“We thought we would give it a go and I messaged them on Facebook,” she said.
“Their broker said let’s give it a try and they were really confident they would be able to do it.”
The Silagas were able to apply for the Building Better Rural Communities $40,000 grant using Cavalier Homes’ finance team from RFS Finance, and suddenly their dream of owning a home became a reality.
“We went into Christmas thinking it probably wouldn’t happen, but just before Christmas we were told it had been accepted – it was amazing,” Mellisa said.
“All we wanted was to own our own home, and Cavalier helped us do it.”
The family built an Ashley 19 design home in Mooroopna with three bedrooms and one living area – the perfect size for Moronae, Mellisa and son Laurenson.
They chose to upgrade the kitchen with a 900 upright cooker and overhead cupboards alongside the rangehood.
The family moved into their new home in November 2014 and Mellisa said Cavalier made the process simple and stress-free.
“They were amazing – they’re real people and it was wonderful to be able to talk to real people,” she said.
“Whatever we thought we wanted, they helped us realise. It was our first home – we got real answers to our questions and we were always in the loop, we were never left out of the process.
“We’ve already recommended Cavalier Homes to other people.”
