Government Housing Initiatives
The Home Guarantee Scheme (HGS) is a government initiative in Australia designed to help eligible home buyers purchase a home sooner.
It includes several programs, such as the First Home Guarantee (FHBG), the Family Home Guarantee (FHG), and the Regional First Home Buyer Guarantee (RFHBG).
The NHFIC administers the Home Guarantee Scheme on behalf of the Australian Government. Under the scheme, a part of an eligible home buyer’s home loan from a Participating Lender is guaranteed by NHFIC. This allows an eligible home buyer to purchase a home with a deposit smaller deposit.
The Australian Government has announced that it will expand the eligibility criteria of the Home Guarantee Scheme, effective 1 July 2023. Click here to read the Minister’s media release.
